Hello Captains and players!
We are very excited for another great weekend! Here is the info you need for the OC Beach Classic 2019.
Check-in: Friday night check-in party will be held at Pickles Pub located on 8th St and Phildelphia Ave. Check in begins at 8pm and will go until 11pm. You can turn in your waivers here and will get wristbands for each waiver turned in. Players are required to wear wristbands during games and you will need them for food and drink specials all weekend. Food and drink specials start at pickles pub (may or may not include pickle shots)!
Saturday and Sunday game play: We are working on a couple formatting options and will post the schedule early next week. You will be in 1 of 2 rounds and will either play at 9, 11, 1, and 3; or 10, 12, 2, and 4. You are guaranteed 4 games on Saturday and at least 2 on Sunday. At the conclusion of games on Saturday, teams will be re-seeded and the top 8 teams will be placed into a championship bracket on Sunday. All other teams will be placed in consolation brackets. We will use win/loss record, head to head, and point diff to re-seed teams.
We will be using USA Ultimate 5 on 5 beach rules, which are standard grass ultimate rules. The field is 75m long with 15m endzones, and is 25m wide. Stall is to 10. Games are to 13 and are hard capped at 45 minutes. When the horn blows, finish the point being played. Whoever is winning wins the game. If tied, play universe point. No halftime. 1 timeout per game.
The gender ratio is 3:2 offense chooses, that means the receiving team can choose to play with 3 women or 3 men on the line. Defense will match it.
All teams will get 1 gallon of water, bagels, apples, and bananas. We will have coolers at the HQ tent to refill your bottles. You will also get a trash bag, please keep our beautiful beaches and ocean clean and keep your sideline clean. Leave no trace!
Showcase Games: We are bringing back the showcase game! We will be having 2 separate single gender showcase games, a 25 minute mens game, followed by a 25 minute womens game. Showcase games start at 5pm and will be over by 6pm. Each team will nominate 1 male and 1 female from your team for the showcase games. Cheer on your friends infront of a packed boardwalk!
Saturday tournament party: The tournament party will be back at the Marina Deck located on Dorcester St and the Bay!
Food and Drink specials, beautiful deck overlooking the Assawoman Bay, DJ, dancing, pool tables, and other fun surprises!
Boardwalk provisions: There are restrooms and showers at 2 locations a short walk away on the boardwalk. Players get a discount at Caruso Pizza (SERIOUSLY good pizza!). Right infront of the fields, get some!
Alcohol is prohibited on the beach in Ocean City. Please be smart, and hydrate!
Dogs are allowed on the beach! They must be kept on a leash and clean up after them.
Merch: We are happy to be working with Oak Creek Apparel again this year. We will have a limited supply of sunhoodies, jerseys, and other fun things for sale at the HQ tent. We also have official tourney discs for sale from Discraft!
