USA Ultimate has announced the Rosters for all Seven teams competing at next year’s World Championships of Beach Ultimate to be held in Dubai. Teams will be representing the US in all seven divisions including: Open, Women’s, Mixed, Masters (age 30+), Mixed Masters, Women’s Masters, and Grandmasters (age 50+).
Players from Washington DC have been selected to represent the nation in Open, Women’s, Mixed, Mixed Masters, and Women’s Masters. Alan Kolick, Dave Cranston (Open), and Markham Shofner (Mixed) all play on DC’s Elite Club team Truck Stop as well as professionally for the DC Current (MLU). DC Breeze (AUDL) players Brett Matzuka and Tyler Digirolamo are also playing on the Open team. Ladies were selected from DC’s defending Club Champion, Scandal Ultimate, which include Jenny Fey, Samantha McClellan (Mixed), Kristin Franke (Women’s), Kimberly Beach (Mixed Masters), and Crystal Davis (Women’s Masters).
The last event was held in 2011 in Lignano, Italy. The US won Gold in each Division except Mixed Masters where the team fell to Great Britain in the finals, earning a Silver medal. This is the first year for the Women’s Masters Division.
